Weekly Roundup

Ross and I visited Austin, TX for vacation last week and it was stellar. If you saw my Instagram Stories, you know we saw thousands of bats, discovered a new favorite artist, had drinks in what felt like a 100-year-old speakeasy, fell in love with the pink/green decor at brunch, took a break from the heat to go furniture shopping, picked up new earrings from a local jewelry-maker, kayaked, admired the architecture, and ate oodles of food. It was great!

On Tuesday, our house was featured on Design*Sponge! It's so thrilling to see our home and the hard work we've put into her on the main page of one of my favorite design resources. What a treat! If you haven't already, I encourage you to take a look at the full house tour that includes before & after photos and a complete source list.

This week I got new eyeglasses that are wildly different from my existing frames. I've been wearing these tortoiseshell specs for a few years. And while I love them, I wanted to mix it up a bit - partly because Ross has dark frames, too, and sometimes we're too matchy-matchy. I'm completely smitten with my new rose gold metal frames! You can see me sporting them in my Instagram Stories (live only for another few hours). I also got these clear frames, too. My sunglasses style is discontinued, but if/when I need to replace them, I'll get these pretties. If you're in the market for new opticals, Warby Parker offers a free home try-on!

This house tour gives me all the feels.

I grew up on '90s HGTV and credit Martha, Mike, and Candice for my affinity for home design. But HGTV is very different as of late. This article about the network - and a few particular shows - is lengthy and critical, but spot on.

It's finally fall! I'm already wearing sweaters and getting ready to bake a bunch of pies during my favorite season. I already have similar chairs to the ones Devon used in this tablescape, and I have no problem covering my table in greenery, but I'm definitely lacking on the warm brass silverware. 'Tis the season for warm tones and textures - can't wait!

Here are some good tips for measuring your space to be sure you get the right furniture.

We started watching the new show Ozark on the flight to Austin. It's no Breaking Bad, but I'm hooked. I also just started Broadchurch which is very much in my wheelhouse. What other shows can you recommend that are similar to that one?

Lastly, I just discovered a new favorite Instagram account. @ilikeblackhouses Need I say more?

Happy first day of fall!
