Weekly Roundup
/This week things have been feeling more real in the kitchen renovation. I’ll give you a full update soon, but I spent an hour under the house measuring for some plumbing. Things will definitely happen in the new year, I promise!
Julia Miller is hands down one of my most favorite designers at the moment. I’ve ogled her kitchen for hours (no joke) and this latest bathroom project has me drooling. That marble detail, the matte black sink, the flat panel inset drawers, the little knobs, the black floors, the trim color, the lights! Drooling.
I shared 10 things to do with scrap Christmas tree branches this week but failed to include this pine-infused cleaning vinegar! Oops, I’ll have to update the post!
Did you know that the clothes you return online might be going straight to the landfill?
This cracked me up. You have to watch the clip at least 8 times.
I finally finished the book, So You Want To Talk About Race. And I truly think everyone should read Ijeoma’s words - it’s so important. The book goes into how to talk about race, checking privilege, and doing the work of anti-racism. I listened to it for free through my library in about 5ish hours and the time was so well spent. I have the hardcopy version that I’ll re-read to even further digest the words. While on the topic, Keneesha of Restoration House just wrote a blog post about being a woman of color in the predominantly white world of interior bloggers. It’s worth a read!
10 Tips for Hosting a Wonderful and Waste-Free Holiday
Ross showed me this “game” where you guess the hex color code which is entirely unnecessary and pretty web-graphic-nerdy. But I enjoyed it for about an hour because I like color and I like tests. It’s not really all that fun, so I found the Chromatic app which is a much more interesting color puzzle that I can’t stop playing.
Did you follow the In The Dark podcast about Curtis Flowers, a man that’s been on death row for decades for a crime he may not have committed after six trials? There was an update this week! If you haven't followed along, I recommend starting from episode 1 of season 2! Also, the first season about a child abduction was really captivating, too.
Did you see the little table I found in the rafters above my porch?
My friend Natasha just bought a small house in Albany and I’m so excited to see what she does with it! She transformed a relatively bland home into the most character-filled house in the country that you’d think it was antique - but it’s not! She’s the perfect person to turn this drywall box in the city into another gem. Follow her now so you can get in before the projects all kick-off!
Happy Friday!
