Taking A Trip To Pick Up My Appliances + A Vlog!
/We got appliances! And we bought them at a steep discount! And we took a day-trip to go pick them up! Here’s a video journal of that day.
I unveiled my new range the other day here when I talked about the nuances of purchasing an appliance with environmentalism in mind. Please click that link to learn more about my decision-making!
I bought this range on eBay. It retails for $5,000 but I got it for $2,500 because it was dented. Whattadeal! I also got a dishwasher for $500 off retail because it was an open box. Both are new, but both were heavily discounted because of their condition. Thanks to shopping on eBay I saved $3,000! Click here for eBay appliance shopping. No, this isn’t sponsored by eBay, but wouldn’t it be cool if I could get paid by a company I’m a big fan of while offering you 100% free content?!
Since I was on a roll with saving money on the appliances, I decided to drive up to Los Angeles to pick them up in order to save me having to pay a delivery fee. I think I got a bid for someone to pick them up, deliver, then return back home for maybe $700? I said, thank you but no, I’ll do it myself!
So, Ross and I used one of the box trucks he uses for work to drive up to LA to retrieve the appliances ourselves. We made a day of it - listening to podcasts, chatting, eating cold pizza, sitting in traffic, and bouncing around in a glamorous hybrid box truck.
I shot some video of our excursion and put it into a vlog. Watch our day-in-the-life video below!
Note, this was filmed nearly a year ago, so this was pre-pandemic when we were able to blissfully and safely leave our homes.

And that’s it! I just want you to watch the video, I have nothing more to add!
Actually, I’ll add, if you liked that video, I encourage you to watch this one with a similar vibe. It’s from when I worked with my friends to install landscape lighting at their house and I love how the video turned out. This video actually was sponsored by a wonderful partner, Kichler, who helps me keep the blogging lights on while giving you 100% free content. So cool, right?
Thanks for watching my videos!
Oh, and if you’re wondering, “did she leave those appliances sitting in her garage for the better part of a year?” Yes. Yes she did.
