A Free Downloadable Coloring Page or Paint-By-Numbers of My Tree Mural
/I’ve converted my tree mural into a paint-by-numbers coloring page, just for you! It’s totally free, of course. You can color it with markers, paint, colored pencils, or just a plain old pencil. You do you.
Every once in a while we crave a mind-numbing activity. And I’d vote that during a pandemic is one of those times. Some folks are sitting around looking for things to do and others are working five jobs instead of one. So, may I interest you in some brain-less coloring to take your mind off the stress for even a minute or two?
It’s pretty abstract. I mean, can you even tell it’s sort-of the same image as on the wall? It’s a very simplified version with fewer colors and less detail, so it’s lost some of the imagery. But I think going abstract is cool! This isn’t something where I expect you to marvel at the masterpiece that comes from an hour of coloring. Rather, it’s just something to doodle on for the hell of it.
You’d think that after I painstakingly painted the mural on the wall of my home office, I wouldn’t want to do it again. Yet here I am.
For a refresher, I made this design by downloading a 1600s etching from the Met’s open source gallery, converted it into a grisaille style of painting, then painted each of the 8 colors on my wall using a projector. Have no fear, I went into detail about it (linked below) if you want to do a deep dive.
Here’s an animation of me coloring for a bit. I was too lazy to get my paints from the attic, couldn’t find my colored pencils, and was limited in my marker color options. So I ended up with this weird psychedelic themed version of my mural. Let’s just say I’m glad I went with the greyscale version on the wall.
If you print and color your own page, please share it! Post it to your Instagram Stories and/or your Instagram feed and tag me @thegoldhive. I’d love to see the different color palettes you all use.
If you aren’t interested in the coloring page, or if you want to own a print of the mural with all of the detail, you can buy it! You can also get it printed on a clock, notepads, your own mural (!), or even a pillow. Shop the print here.
Don’t forget to download your own coloring page right here! Be sure to share it when you’re done (or even mid-progress) on Instagram by tagging @thegoldhive.
