Weekly Roundup
/Wait, it’s December. What?? Time is really flying by.
We hung our colorful holiday lights and adore how they add character to our home. We’ve always done big colored bulbs on the exterior of the house, but this year we retired the old incandescent lights and replaced them with new LED bulbs. Tru-Tone Bulbs kindly gifted us a set of their retro LED bulbs that look just as great as the original ones. Many of their styles are sold out, so go sign up for their emails (at the bottom of their homepage) to snag them for next year’s decor.
It’s time for the 2nd annual This Old Gingerbread Contest!
I finally upgraded my camera. I’ve been shooting on this camera but just switched to this full-frame mirrorless one. I’m already so impressed by the improved quality and snappiness of the more professional machine. Camera talk can be pretty dry, but I’m happy to share my shopping thought process if anyone is curious. Oh, and my old camera and lenses are available for purchase if anyone is local.
Margot is now eating solids! She’s a fan of mangos, omelets, and stewed apples - she has such good taste! She dines in this highchair, uses these utensils, and is learning to use a straw with this cup.
The colors in this home kill me. And by kill, I mean inspire.
Giving Tuesday was earlier this week, but if you’re still looking to make donations, here’s a list of some of my favorite organizations to support. (I wrote this in 2019, so I apologize for missing some newer nonprofits.)
The curtains for Margot’s room are FINALLY in transit. The small shop that made them had some delays in production, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting the delivery. Once they arrive, her nursery will be close to being ready to unveil!
A favorite designer shares her secrets to sourcing unique items.

Wishing I left space for cabinet curtains in my kitchen.
This wooden cake stand is the perfect gift for anyone that makes cakes, or anyone that eats cakes.
Are you folks still interested in my favorite newborn products? Would you like me to whip up a gift guide for babies? I’m also happy to share more about Margot’s journey to sleeping 12 hours a night, or our experience combo feeding due to low supply, or any other baby things. But I want to be sure that’s still interesting to people. I shared my postpartum essentials here, FYI.
It’s getting dark earlier so I just ordered these safety lights to put on the stroller for our walks at dusk. Safety first!
I’m thinking of wallpapering every room of the house. And I’m shopping for vintage plates on Etsy. And I’m looking to DIY a pleated lampshade. Obviously, I’m not at all influenced by this room.
